Yarrow Place is the lead public health agency responding to adult
rape and sexual assault in South Australia. In 2003/04 Yarrow Place
responded to 449 incidents of rape and provided clients with a variety
of services including crisis and ongoing counselling, medical care
and support groups. Yarrow Place also provided training for 885
workers, a 46% increase compared with the previous year.
Yarrow Place developed and provided accredited training programs
in 'first response', health care and forensic examinations for many
workers in South Australia. Yarrow Place also provided non-accredited
education and information sessions across a range of occupations
and academic disciplines. In addition, Yarrow Place provided consultancy
and support for service providers in other agencies and produced
and distributed a range of information and education resources.
